About Me

I’m Isabelle Martin, a soon-to-be graduate of Performance Design and Costume from Arts University Bournemouth. I’ve loved what I’ve learnt from the course as I designed for various productions, speculative and live, and grew into my style as I learnt new skills from sketching to breaking down. I’m particularly drawn to using colour and different textures on fabrics to create characters and help further tell a story. As well as this I’ve enjoyed working with other people and learning more about the theatre and film industry surrounding costume design and the other roles around it.

I’ve always wanted to be a costume designer since I was young as I grew up with my mum’s love of vintage clothing which she’s collected for many years. Through this, I grew a great appreciation of historical costume and how it’s changed throughout the years. Because of this, all my designs are created through a huge amount of research which I love to mix and match to create my designs and twist historical accuracies where relevant to help fit the style of a production. Check out my portfolio and Instagram to see more details about my designs!
